Read a book

As they say, it’s never too late to read a book. Reading a book, no matter what genre it is, will always take your imagination farther than you thought it would. Genres such as romance, comedy, fiction, non-fiction, satire, fantasy, and even thriller can create a new mindset for you. If you’re comfortable reading novels from a specific genre, try to change your selections up a bit by trying out different genres once in a while.  

Go outdoors

Whether it’s for a walk, jog, a trip to the supermarket, or whatever requires you to go outside, DO IT. Do it not just for your physical well-being, but your mental and spiritual mental well-being as well. If you can’t leave your child/children, bring them with you during your walks. This activity can create a stronger bond with you and your children every day and you won’t even notice it.  

Call a friend

You don’t have to call friend every day. But if your friend isn’t as busy, why not? Keeping in touch with people outside of your typical companions at home provides a fresh start. Plus, you’ll have new things to talk about since you’re not experiencing the same things and you don’t live under the same roof. If you have lots of friends, do a conference call. This encourages a stronger bond between friends and a melting pot of new parenting knowledge as well. A friend could tell a story of how one things was resolved and the other can learn from her stories in turn. Be open and honest with your friends, and sooner or later, they will be the same to you as well.  


The best way to meditate is by taking an hour or a few minutes of your time by doing nothing stressful. So if you’re working or doing chores, be sure to pause for a while and do breathing and mental exercises. To get started, you can download a playlist full of relaxing tunes or stream music from popular websites like Spotify. It also helps to light scented candles or perfumed incense sticks while you’re at it.  

Take a nap

Or if you have more time in your hands, take power naps throughout the day. Napping will help replenish the cells and strength you’re using to perform your mummy duties. Have you noticed how most sleep deprived people are typically hot headed? This is because stress and lack of sleep gradually decreases one’s serotonin, or in layman’s term, “the happy hormone”. Power napping not only elevates your mood, but your health throughout the day.  


Nourishing yourself by taking up a new hobby or doing something that guarantees self care is one of the few good things you can add to your day. Remember to relax and unwind at one point each day.
